Hello SMFCSD community! I am so excited to be here as the new Assistant Principal at Laurel Elementary. I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada by my Jamaican father and my German mother. I attended UCSC as an undergraduate & UCSB where I obtained my teaching credential and M.Ed. I wrote my Master’s thesis on how to teach human rights in elementary classrooms. I have been an educator for over 21 years, with 15 years as a teacher in the Burlingame School District. Last year I was an Equity Coach in the Redwood City School District. I am passionate about anti-bias/anti-racist education and believe all students need to be seen and celebrated for the wonderful diverse humans they are. My husband and I have two children (21 & 18) and a goofy dog named Luna. We have lived in San Mateo for 18 years. In my free time I love to bake. During the summer months I enjoy making jam, a tradition I learned from my German grandmother. When time allows I love spending time in Truckee with my family. I am excited to take on this new position and plan to make a positive impact in my new role.
