Julie MacArthur

 

Hello Families!

My name is Julie MacArthur and I’m excited to be the Assistant Principal at Laurel Elementary.  I’ve been an educator for over 25 years and have been a part of the San Mateo Foster City School District for 17 years.  

 

I grew up in Michigan in a small rural community where my friends raised livestock to show at the county fair.  I went to undergraduate school at Central Michigan University.  When it was time for graduate school, I ventured out to New York City to Columbia University.  While there,I totally fell in love with the city and also with a wonderful man whom I would follow to California, marry and have three beautiful children with  

 

In my free time, I love to spend time with my kids who are all adults now,  bake yummy treats and if I’m feeling super motivated, go on a long hike.  Fun fact, in what feels like a former life, I’ve done over 20 half marathons, 1 full marathon and 5 triathlons.  

 

I feel very lucky to be here at Laurel.  The teachers, families and students have been so welcoming.  I’m grateful to be able to continue to do work that I love with this community.
